INDIANA GOVERNOR ISSUES STATEWIDE MASK MANDATE

As of July 27, 2020, Hoosiers will be required to wear face coverings in most public settings under a new Executive Order announced by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced a mandatory mask order for the Commonwealth earlier this month.

The order, which can be read in full here, includes the following:

  • Applies to anyone 8 years or older in indoor public spaces, commercial entities or transportation services, or in outside public spaces where social distancing is not possible.
  •  Masks are encouraged for children ages 2 to 7.
  • In schools, masks are required for grades 3 and up, faculty and staff, volunteers and anyone else in the school. This includes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities with exceptions for strenuous physical activities.
  • Exceptions will be made for medical purposes, strenuous physical activities, eating and drinking, and other situations as well.

In the Governor’s Executive Order, he noted that local health departments will be tasked with enforcing the mask mandate and that, if virus data does the improve, additional measures such as business closures could be taken up.
