NEW RECOMMENDATIONS ANNOUNCED FOR COUNTIES IN KENTUCKY WITH HIGH INFECTION RATES

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced new recommendations for counties with high COVID-19 infection rates.

The recommendations include:

  • Employers should allow employees to work from home when possible
  • Non-critical government offices should operate virtually
  • In-person shopping should be reduced
  • Dining in restaurants and bars should be avoided
  • Customers should prioritize businesses that follow and enforce masking and other COVID guidelines
  • Public and private events should be rescheduled, postponed, or canceled
  • Individuals should not host or attend gatherings of any size
  • Non-essential activities outside of the home should be avoided
  • Overall activity and contacts should be reduced
  • Existing guidance should be followed

The recommendations apply to counties that are in the “red zone.” These are counties with an infection rate of 25+ per 100,000 residents based on a seven day average. As of today, the following counties from the Greater Louisville region fell under “red zone” status:

  • Jefferson
  • Meade
  • Hardin
  • Bullitt
  • Nelson
  • Shelby

The Governor has emphasized that the new recommendations are recommendations and not mandates.
