THE FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT: WHAT EMPLOYERS NEED TO KNOW
With parts of the economy restarting while many child care centers are operating at limited capacity and schools utilizing remote learning, employers are strongly encouraged to refamiliarize themselves with the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). The law was one of Congress’ initial legislative responses to the COVID-19 pandemic back in March and has been in effect since April 2. It remains in effect through the end of 2020.
FFCRA implements new paid sick leave and paid leave requirements for businesses. The Department of Labor has provided a useful summary of the law and an FAQ.
