INDIANA ANNOUNCES NEW COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS FOR COUNTIES

Indiana counties experiencing a rise in positive COVID-19 cases will now face new public health and safety restrictions. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb announced the new restrictions this week as the state grapples with a surge in cases.

Only counties in “orange” and “red” status will see the new restrictions. The orange and red designations reflect virus positivity rates, with red counties having the highest positivity rates. The status of all Indiana counties can be found here. In the Greater Louisville region – Scott, Harrison, Washington, Floyd, and Clark – all counties are orange, at the time of writing.

Orange counties face the following new restrictions and guidance:

• Social gatherings are limited to 50 people.
• Events planned for more than 50 people require approval from a local health department.
• Attendance at indoor K-12 events is limited to 25 percent capacity.
• Capacity in common areas and break rooms at businesses should be restricted.
• Community and recreational sports are to be limited to participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians.

Red counties face the following new restrictions and guidance:

• Social gatherings are limited to 25 people.
• Events planned for more than 25 people require approval from a local health department.
• Attendance at indoor sports are to be limited to participants, required personnel, and parents/guardians.
• Common areas and breakrooms at businesses should be closed.
• Senior activities are suspended.
• Health care facilities may impose restrictions on visitations.
• Local officials may limit the hours of bars, nightclubs, and restaurants.

Indiana had previously entered into the final phase of its reopening process. The new restrictions go into effect on November 15, 2020.
